From the Liner Notes ::
"A culture rich in story and song, the Celts treasured their ancient tales of wonder and adventure. The Bards would sing the legends of their race in the Halls of their Chieftains, and the Heroes of old would live again. Two of the most important figures of Celtic legend are Taliesin and cúChulainn: one a Bard; the other, a Warrior. Their deeds were remembered and handed down by the monks of Ireland, who carefully recorded the stories and left them for us as a legacy of a long vanished world." – Steven Lawhead
Review / Comments ::
When I first purchased this CD a few years back, I was rather disappointed with it. As a lover of Celtic music, I was expecting something more traditional... along the lines of "The Chieftains" or "The Clancy Brothers". However... As I listened more attentively, I came to appreciate the more subtle Celtic flavors that flutist Jeff Johnson, and keyboardist Brian Dunning, incorporated into their compositions. Each track meant to invoke a mental and spiritual picture of the part of a story to which it pertains.
As such... This CD has since become one of my favorites. Tracks #5 – The Fortunate Isle and #10 – Isle of the Everlasting, have a particularly compelling quality, which I cannot adequately verbalize.
