WOW!!! One song tipped me to buy this, and other CD's by Jim Brickman; the song "Angel Eyes" is part of the CD "Windham Hill Classics - Angels" that I also reviewed for this month... After listening to "Angel Eyes" I knew that needed to find other songs and albums of Jim Brickman's out of this world music!
Simple Things, the first of many albums from Jim Brickman that I will be reviewing for Streams-of-Time, is a great combination of his instrumental, (primarily focused on piano/keyboard) and vocal pieces that feature guest artists.
When it comes to picking my favorite songs from this album, I would have to say ALL of them are GREAT; but a few stand out as my must listen to over-and-over-again picks: (1) The Promise, (4) Night Rain, (8) Journey...
There are three other songs that truly standout on this album and ARE without a doubt, my most favorite songs from Jim Brickman's collection of works:
- (2) Simple Things -- This song, combining superb instrumentals and the vocal talent of Rebecca Lynn Howard, will get your mind to thinking about all of life's "simple things."
- (11) Serenade -- Rhythm, Strength, Promise... Serenade is breathtaking! This three and a half minute song is a strong piano piece by Jim Brickman mixed with a peaceful and enduring cello rhythm (by Peggy Baldwin) that will give anyone an invigorating burst of energy!
- (12) A Mother's Day -- "I love you Mom..." While not being a Jim Brickman song, this loving tribute to all mothers is a heartfelt song by Tom Douglas. The song will really make you remember how your mother really helped and loved you unconditionally.
Great combinations of instrumental and vocal pieces, Simple Things by Jim Brickman is a MUST HAVE!!!
I give Simple Things, a truly heartfelt and memorable album, Streams-of-Time's HIGHEST rating; 5 out of 5 stars.
